He graduated from the Faculty of Arts of Eötvös Loránd University with degrees in history and Hungarian language and literature in 1985. He also acquired a qualification as a pedagogical assessment expert at the University of Szeged in 2007.
He has been a leader or member of various working groups, and has authored a number of publications related to public education. He has been the principal of Toldy Ferenc High School in Budapest since 1992. He has contributed to the First World War Centenary Project as a historian of the Public Foundation for the Research of Central and East European History and Society since 2013.
